Aaron Yarmel Violin Studio
I am currently accepting violin students of all ages in Madison, WI! I am a registered Suzuki violin teacher with over 10 years of teaching experience. I previously taught at the Greater New Orleans Suzuki Forum, the Kanack School of Music, the Northern Illinois University Community School of the Arts, the Pittsford NY Music and Arts Center, and various elementary schools in the Rochester NY City School District. I hold a Bachelor of Music degree from the Eastman School of Music, and I have an active career as a professional violinist. See my violin page for more information about my activities as a violinist/teacher. I would be more than happy to answer any questions via phone, (585)727-5847, or email.
Studio Policy
Preparation:
I expect students to practice and listen to recordings of the music they are studying every day. For very young students, the parents' commitment to regular practicing is often a more reliable predictor of success than commitments that students express. I offer guidance, tailored to individual students, regarding the length of practice sessions. After all, it can be just as important to avoid over-practicing as under-practicing.
Free Skype Checkup:
My students have the opportunity for a free weekly "Skype Checkup," which is a 10-minute mini-lesson delivered over Skype (free online video-conferencing software). Sometimes students, as well as parents, have questions or concerns during the week. Rather than waiting for the next lesson, the Skype Checkup allows me to monitor progress and address those questions and concerns quickly. Addressing concerns before each lesson takes place makes lessons more effective and, ultimately, more satisfying for everyone.
Location:
All lessons take place in my home in the Near East Side of Madison, WI.
Etiquette:
Payment and Missed Lessons:
Payment for lessons is due by month (due before the first lesson of the month). I accept cash and checks. If it is necessary for me to cancel a lesson, I will offer a makeup lesson at a mutually agreed-upon time. I do not offer refunds or make-up lessons for cancellations initiated by students or their families; to see why, click here.
Rates:
$50 per week: a one-hour lesson
$30 per week*: a 30 minute lesson
*30 minute lessons are only available to students under the age of 11.
